I made this shadow sculpture in Paris, from my observations of the city. The theme is the Eiffel Tower as an example of a transmitter of electricity and radio waves. For the people of today, a life is realized only in places where electric wires and electricity reach. I consider the fundamental issues of modern people with my artwork.
The Eiffel Tower is also a symbol, an object, and an observation platform. It was built for the purpose of getting a bird’s-eye view of Paris. The original plan was to pull down the tower when the Paris exposition ended. However, it continued to be used to watch weather, and for observation, telegraphic communication, a physics experiment, etc., taking advantage of the height. And in the First World War, the radio of the German army was monitored, and the invasion of Paris was intercepted. The Eiffel Tower is still used as antenna for television and radio, in?addition to sightseeing, and it reigns as the most beautiful tower in the world.
My main question: Do we truly win freedom through evolution of civilization?
